Me again.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the average cost of getting a reasonably sized white-tail butchered up. I'm no cutter, and even worse, would have zero idea of how to go about it. (If I were to do it, it would go from being prime potential sausage and cuts to shredded meat-resembling strips -_-)

Any help for me out there?

Mike

Here's Prairie Meats price sheet (I do not recommend them but offer their price list simply as a point of reference).

hey! we all start somewhere, right? look up deer butchering on you tube to get an idea on where to start, then have at 'er. dont be scared and you will be happier at the result, trust me. we are the original D.I.Y guys here on cgn. all you realy need is a cheap assed sharpenable and somewhat flexible blade, some insight and a garbage bag. you allready know what meat is supposed to look like so build from there. things will improve as your experience grows. all you will really end up with is a bit more hamburger than the proffesional would, and what do you use more of anyway? prime steaks and roasts plus hamburger is what most of us are looking for in exotic meats for sure. cut your steaks as thick as you want or leave them for roast, its entirely up to you. the biggest problem is the mess, which isn't really that bad. invest in a cheap meat grinder (electric, $70) and carry on. poly off the table and get extra cutting boards,... i'm not seeing a problem but an oportunity. have fun with your hunting buddies and drink beer, sounds good to me!
