Thanks to a local farmer, I got a very late season crossbow hunt Saturday Morning. I had a miserable few hours, sitting in a stand, and was about to say F' it and pack it in, when a little movement caught my eye.
A small toot on the true talker, brought him in at a trot. A fifteen yard shot, complete pass through. (Lost the damned bolt) He dropped on the spot, flopped about twice, and lay still.
Not a huge deer, he went about 140 I'd guess. Very lean, almost no fat, and a bugger to skin because of it.

Never give up guys, they are still out there.

Deer moving temp

They sure move in the cold though!!! As soon as the temp. drops here in Nov. the bucks start moving big time, for a month or so. That's the time to hunt for big bucks out here!!

When hunting in miserable conditions think like a deer .When you are comfortable this is where the deer will be.Leeward side of hills and ravines. The wind can also be your friend allowing you to stalk undetected real close.I shot a med WT buck this fall in an 50Km wind.He was thrashing the hell out of a small poplar on the side of a hill sheltered from the wind.Gave him a 156gr Sako through the shoulders at about 50 ft with my 6.5x55 Win FWT..............never knew what hit e'm...........Harold
