Got myself a nice plump flat top lastnight. Spot and stalk through open ground. 20 yards on the run just at sunset with the bow. I aimed a bit far forward trying to lead the shot, ended up going though the neck.. Deer was running flat out and still only went about 20 yards before collapsing. Not the best shot, and I will for sure do better next time. But hey, quick kill, minimal meat loss. 2nd big game animal with the bow.

I know my bow, I know my skills, I know the conditions, I know the risks.. I wouldn't have taken the shot if I wasn't 110 percent confident in all these areas.

You sir struck it very very lucky....Either that or the story is just that. A STORY.

I know my bow, I know my skills, I know the conditions, I know the risks.. I wouldn't have taken the shot if I wasn't 110 percent confident in all these areas.

Your 1st post would convince me otherwise.

#1. 20 yards on the run........
#2.I aimed a bit far forward trying to lead the shot........
#3.2nd big game animal with the bow.

If true, You might not want to duplicate this shot, because it won't end well....I doubt you would post your epic failure though:redface:.

so your arrow hit about a foot further ahead than you thought it would--What would of happened if it had hit a foot too far back? Have you ever seen a deer that has been gut shot? Archery equipment is for shots at standing animals only.

Read your 1st post. Anybody with experience would not of let the arrow fly on running game. You made a bad shot and got lucky so maybe your skills are not as good as you think. Its not that you cant kill a deer on the run like you did, the risk is just to high.

You know your abilities and your bow but you shot a running doe in the neck - I hope next time out you take into consideration your 'decision making ability'. Afraid you came to the wrong place to brag about your 'luck' poncho ... the only thing this thread is good for is telling newbies what 'not to do'. Glad you recovered the deer.

Wow, talk about a thread full of Ethics police LOL
..... Carry on, I'm entertained :D :D

That's what I was thinking. Was there a group of pre-schoolers standing behind the deer? If not, what's the problem? If he missed or winged it, he'd have to track it, but it's his call on whether to take the shot.

Nice shot BTW.
