Hmm a neighbor that slighted him somehow? Seem like a bizarre shot for a hunter to me. He's lucky to have gotten off with manslaughter. Has potential of premeditated hit. Just saying, knowing nothing about the case excdpt whats posted on this board.
I highly doubt that's the case. Why? Would you take a low percentage shot in low light at a decent range with a pistol to kill someone you have a problem with or would you use a rifle at closer range to be sure you get the job done? It simply doesn't make sense to take the shot he did if he was trying to settle a score with a neighbor as the chances of wounding her were too high.
The police have zero reason to believe this was intentional.
It's hard to imagine a 200yd pistol shot fired into the air,in the dark accurate enough to deliberately hit someone. This is more like being hit by lightning. It's criminal negligence, for sure. The comparable charge in the US is manslaughter. There aren't too many mamby-pamby liberal judges in New York State,so,there's a real possibility this guy could be on a trip to Attica for a while.
A 200 yard shot is easy peasy for hunting pistols, such as the TC Encore platform. I highly doubt he took a 200 yard shot with a Glock.
Also, this was not "in the dark" as the news would have you believe. While it's against the law in New York to hunt after sunset (4:53 pm on that day), the shot was taken before 5:20 pm which would have been legal time for us here in Ontario in the same time zone. Three references on this thread to this guy "shooting in the dark" simply because the news told you so. less than 30 minutes after sunset is not "dark".
