Just confirmed we got 2/2 anterless deer tickets, both in 53A but we know nothing about that area.

anyone from there or be familiar with the productive deer hunting areas in 53A please give a hand.

local cottage/camp staying is also under consideration.

thanks in advance..

good question. Winchested. OK acutually we got no idea of any WMU as a first year deer hunter.
only reason for 53A is it is not too far and with a pretty good chance to get a tag from the static 2011.

We also are looking for guided deer hunting there as well... any clue?

thank you for answering and hope it can be the topic of the week..

That's my hometown buddy, just drive around at night in a cop car, you'll fill your tags quick enough! Lol. But seriously, try heading north on 169 and talk to the farmer with the two draft horses on the right side of the road just outside of gravenhurst, just past the sneakers hangin from the hydro line that's stretches across the road. Other than that, try one of the guys on the way out of town heading north towards bracebridge, head down Doe Lake road and look for farmland. Also look at the MNR website, look for the crown land maps, and find crown in that are, there is tons of deer! Happy hunting! Hope that helps. Skokie.

Its not an easy place to hunt Crown is very limited and most areas are large wooded areas. I run a bear camp in the same WMU and only see limited deer sightings.

I have to agree with the others , having land before appling is a great idea...

I kind of feel sorry for guy's that live in big city areas & don't have good access to places to hunt. I don't hunt in that area, otherwise I would try to help you out. Keep asking & some kind hearted person will help you out. Make sure you take care of them when they do!
I also live in a big city, but have kind relatives & friends that own rural property & grant me the privilege of hunting their properties. I don't take it for granted, & do as much as I can to help them in their endeavours.

Thank u all for the understanding and the sorry on me. As a city man, I feel sorry too but glad with the job it offers. :)

I will keep asking and be sure keep acting as a responsible and a grateful adult hunter.

Good luck.

This year they gave out 500 additional deer seals for 53a, antlered or antlerless in any season, long overdue as the area is plagued with deer. I have always seen lots of deer and had good success but I hunt land locked crown.
Look on The Crown Land Use Policy Atlas and you will see a lot of crown land (http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LUEPS/2ColumnSubPage/STDU_137972.html). The only problem is there are a lot of hunters in the area due to its close proximity to the GTA.
That’s why I cannot believe the area has so much deer when they have so many hunters.
Good luck.
