Tree stands have several advantages... better and longer field of view, less chance of being winded etc.
Besides it is nice to have High Friends in Places!

I like tree stands you see more to help pass the time, sitting on the ground in a thick cover can get boring.

I have limited experience hunting deer....
I like sitting in the stand until I can't take it anymore than I go for a walk, have lunch, take a nap etc and go back to the stand for the evening.

I'm with you on that. But sometimes it's hard to see the Deer in the evening.

I still hunt although that does include sitting at different crossings or on the edge of meadows etc. at times. When I bowhunt whitetails (which isn't often) I will sit usually

In the area I hunt, there are few places where a tree stand offers much advantage as far as distance visibility goes. There are stands there, but most have been abandonned for years.
Most of the time, I stay on the ground. I use tree stands for moose hunting, different area.
