That MFS 125g soft point steel cased ammo is pretty damn hot. I've been using it this year but haven't shot a deer yet. Today I took 12g slugs because I wanted a free ##### extension, but all I got was a rusty 870 express

200yrds for this round and in I think would not be a problem. Accuracy in your sks may be the limiting factor otherwise. The one I had shot pretty good. MPBR for both the 30-30 and 7.62 is right around 225 from what I could find with good ol Chuck Hawks on one of his comparision charts.
