Okay, next question, where does the recoil go from such a mammoth cartridge? is it the shear wieght of the gun or are there some sort of supressors?alberta tactical rifle said:Cat after humpin a 61 lb gun around, yeah it is too heavy for the hills, thank god I don't do hills , just from the truck out a few hundred yards and sit and wait.
Gilly not even as much as 243, actually more like 410 shotgun, but noisier. The light weight rifles (30lb) are along the same as 300 win mag for recoil. Far easier to handle however, 61 lbs is great for bench but a tad insane for the field.

Drag that baby around in the sled behind the snowmachine to clobber a few caribou.
It can barely be held offhand. Maybe if you're built like Win94, but not me, even at 6'5 230. The barrel probably weighs 53 lbs itself.
The scope is a Nightforce, IIRC.
Yup Nightforce 8x32x56 NXS but I am upgrading to the 12x42x56 NXS
Since it's used Rick you gonna hook me up for a bargoon?
My daughter says she is at least 2 steps up the chain on this 1, she loves the 50, can't lift it but figures its the best thing around for gophers. She need to get a job as her ammo seems to be all be coming from from my box
As soon as he builds up that beast based on the 25mm M242, the 50's are going to be passé. Anyone know where you can get a 3.5" barrel blank in 25mm?
