Deer killed by coyotes ***WARNING GRAPHIC PIC****

There are a lot more coyotes now also because the anti fur loons killed the market.

well about half of the deer is bones and hide now. Coyote scat all around, taking my trail cam out tomorrow to try and get a some pics and find out what time they are usually coming out at.

Went out today to shoot some dogs and we encountered the same thing. I shot at some dogs that were 360+yards but only got one before the others ran away. But after we walked up we seen the deer they had taken. There is no major roads by the dead deer and it was a buck as he looks like he just lost his antlers. I also got a call from my girlfriend saying they had taken a deer down at my place and they had it in my bushes. They had drug it out of the neigbors bale yard as thats were the blood trail is coming from. Might have to get me a night vision scope to get the buggers. Cant have them taking deer during calving season.

My Dad just called me..

He was outside pruning his half acre of grapes and he saw what he thought was two deer fighting on the hillside behind the house. He thought it was weird as he hunts and knows when and why deer fight. It turned out to be a coyote taking down a deer when he say them clearly. He ran in the house and grabbed his Gevarm .22 that I talk about sometimes. When he went back outside the coyote say him and started to take off.. At about 50-75 yards and 120gr of lead later, the coyote was rolling back down the hill. The deer had died from the fight as well.

He told me that he put the gun back in the safe but after talking to me he's going to keep it a little handier for the next day or two with that deer carcass there. It will draw some attention.

It's just him and my mom there but they have some cats and a big goofy lab. One less coyote is alright, especially one that was hungry enough to attack a deer. The fight took some time as they left a lot of hair on the fence when they slid along it for a while.

That's the third problem coyote he's shot that I can remember. Two of them with a .22 and one with his 7mm RM. They were all in rural farming areas and not up in the bush.

I see them near my house too once in a while, but it's not rural and I am not going to be firing guns in my backyard...

Hey guess what? A coyote eating a deer is not a problem coyote. Where would you have them go for food, the drive through at McDonalds?

I have no problem with the food chain, I'm a hunter and on top of it.

I have a problem with waist. nothing more, nothing less.

I have a problem with my waist too, my belt keeps getting smaller. It's because I don't waste food, and it all goes to my middle.

As for the deer meat - there's no waste involved - even the bones will be dragged off to be chewed on after the meat is finished. It's part of the cycle and will keep dozens of coyotes, ravens, magpies, and other scavengers alive till spring.

Ya well i do. They are a scavenger and let me tell ya something. When cattle is your game and they start taking down deer, what do you think they are gonna do to your calves or yearlings?????? Think about it, In the end it might cost a guy alot more than you think. Not trying to be rude, As I dont raise cattle, but i live next to a feed lot and alot of my friends raise cattle so it does bother me cause thats how they make there living.

Coyote kills on deer ain't pretty. But then again neither are deer with their legs blown off with buck shot by some of our fellow "hunters". Also many farmers will claim deer as bigger pests than coyotes.

I've never seen that where does it happen?

All I'm saying is, a coyote taking down a deer is as natural an event as you will find in nature. It may not be the easiest meal for a coyote, but like I said they have to eat too.

I don't have a problem shooting coyote's. But don't justify it by saying that bad old coyote killed bambi.

And im not saying that it isnt natural, Its called the suvival of the fittest for a reason. But when a pack of coyotes start to take down deer, whats to say that they will not start to take down calves also. And when a farmer looses any calves, that starts to hurt his pocket more and more. Im not disagreeing with you on the its natural thing, I realize they have to eat. But like i said, they do it once, they will do it again.

O and btw, this morning on my way to work, i was driving down the hiway and in 1/2 section of land we seen 6 coyotes approching a herd of deer. Cant tell me that they arent goona cause damage to farmers cattle if they can take down a deer.
