Tried deer liver last night for the first time. I enjoy beef liver and the deer liver is pretty much just the same. If you enjoy liver, don't let it go to waste.

I don't...... I feed it to the ravens + coyotes.................Harold

Hey, they have to eat too. But if you like beef liver, try deer. It's supposed to be a good source of iron. My wife suffers from low iron, so I encourage her to eat liver from time to time. For a not particularly popular food, its not cheap either.

I always take the heart and liver from the deer I get. When cooked properly, they are very tasty. Just make sure you don't over-cook them. Cheers...

I personally don't eat guts.. I always cut a chunk off the liver for my Mom and Dad though, and they like it.

Well, I think that anyone who would eat fried bird embryos, or maybe bee vomit on his toast, or heaven forbid something like a hot dog, should be willing to try eating various "gut" parts.

Liver and onions with bacon is delicious. Steak and kidney pie, sausage, stuffed heart, head cheese ... it's all good. I try not to let prejudices keep me from enjoying good food.

I've eaten a deer liver once. The whole thing. Granted, it was from last years probably late fawn (about 90 lbs before gutting). The liver was about the size of my two fists. Sliced thin and fried with onions on the same day and I ate the whool thing. It was pretty good, and i usually don't like beef liver.

This is true..but eating parts that main functions are taking out any impurties in the body sytem doesn't turn my crank.. ever heard of boil the piss out of a Kidney..it's for good reason..lol

Liver is good when prepared properly...I keep meaning to take a big ziplock bag with me so I can save the deer liver.

What do you guys do with the heart?

I don't know where you shop but baby beef kiver here from a real butcher shop even is 66 cents a pound.

I like venison liver and often have cols liver sandwiches with hot mustard the next day. Stuffed heart is great roasted.

I tried deer brains once and got married shortly after. I think I had mad cow disease and passed it on to her highness.

we ALWAYS COOK THE LIVER ON THE TAIL GATE ON A COLEMAN STOVE AT NOON ON A FRESH SLISE OF BREAD YUMMMY .JUST WATCH FOR WHITE RINGS ON THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE LIVER IF YOU SEE ANY THY CAN BE CUT OF .THEN JUST SLICE IT AND DIP IN FLOWER FRY IN HOT PAN WITH BUTTER VERY GOOD FOR YOU DUTCH

Well of course, with bacon. Bacon makes everything better.

I eat beef liver occasionally and have always found deer liver to be better. I also eat the heart, which I like to have stuffed and roasted.

Never tried it with deer liver but the way I got my family to eat beef liver was to wash it in water then soak in milk to remove any traces of bile that can make the liver bitter.

i never thought it was good to eat... ,maybe next deer ill give it a try. (should be next week i hope)

Liver and onions with bacon ,and deer heart, and wild chickens all in one. should be good.
