Deer Liver

I will give it a try this year. I am happy to see that so many of you eat and enjoy it. Cadmium poisoning is a concern but eating liver in small quantities shouldn't pose much of a threat. Good food is worth the risk anyway... right?

Unless your deer likes eating batteries and paint chips I don't see how eating one or part of a liver would cause you to get poisoning? Now an omnivore or a carnivore I wouldn't dare eating liver of but herbivore? Unless you hunt around electrical plant, paint factory or a city dump I would disregard it

Deer liver? I friggin LOVE it. No exaggeration....I'll take every single one I can get my hands on. Mine gets eaten within a day of the kill, but occasionally another hunter (who has no clue what he's missing) will offer up his.

Hell, there's a bunch of guys I field dress for just so I can take the heart and liver.

oh yeah, and the tongue....NEVER forget the tongue! :)

Not my thing but we always give the heart, liver etc to a hunting camp next to us. They absolutely love it, and these are guys in their 60's and 70's so it has to be good, just not for me.

Seems like some guys are still reliving the nightmare of their childhood- the LIVER DINNER NIGHT!!!:runaway:

seriously, guys, the liver is a great eating, if you hunt and kill, you should utilize every part of the animal as best you cant, give it a try next time you get a chance, it is not like the liver you remember your mom make:cool:(disclaimer- when done right, but I've never had liver done wrong, just don't salt it prior to cooking;))
