Deer Rut

Note for serious deer hunters. The bucks are still rutting as of Dec 15th.

Had a mulie buck detour right around my idling vehicle, at a stop sign in town this a.m. Kinda neat to see him just ignore the running vehicle.
Then on the hwy, we had to slow for a big whitetail buck that was chasing a doe.

So anybody that thought the rut was over... not!

I was out shooting coyotes on thursday and spotted lots of deer. Whitetail bucks were still with does. Mulies were not with the does but I did spot a couple large bucks bedded close to where the does were.

I've read somewhere that if a doe isn't bred the first time she comes in "heat", she'll come around again in 28 days. There only in "heat" for 24-36 hours.

Might be the start of the second rut, but here in manitoba I haven't seen any deer movement since the cold snap hit.
