Ontario residents are only permitted to use SYNTHETIC deer scent and I've read that because it's synthetic, it will have a MUCH longer shelf life. Does anyone here use their buck/doe scent more than 1 season? If so have you been successful with OLD stuff or have you witnessed deer visiting a site marked with old scent?
 
Ive used scent a few times thats been over a year old. I find that some deer respond to it like a magnet, and others ignore it completely. It all depends on the curiosity of that particular deer.
 
It may not just be shelf life. Michigan just changed their hunting regs to prohibit urine based scents to curb CWD.
 
Yes, the reason we can only use SYNTHETIC is because of CWD. I'm just wondering how long people use synthetics. Years past when you bought " natural" scents they barely lasted a season because they deteriorated after a month or so. Some claim synthetics don't deteriorate, or take a long time to go "skunky". I'm curious about how many of use use scents that are over a year old.
