Funny that this is posted cause just last week I tried them, but I never thought I would admit it
How they taste? Hummmm well they were tender. Not sure what my grandfather did for seasoning I can say they were good other then I had to keep the thought of what they were out of my mind while i was eating
I think any kinda of seasoning you like would be good in the pan with them.

on a side note though, seasoned flour(salt/pepper) dredge them through and saute in butter till lightly browned....

Yes. I have ate Calf nuts,we use to brand, nut, and vaccine over 2000 a year so plenty of nuts for all. They are not nuts off a buck that have been breeding..

After a successful hunt i took a pair to a Kinsmen meeting one night, offered to do a free transplant to any body there. No takers, bunch of no nut knowitalls.

the rut has no effect on the edibility of them. they absorb what every flavours you cook them in. and once you have them out of the ball sack there is no smell to them at all

WHY? Are you that hard up for food you have to eat the deer nuts. Lots of things I'd eat on a deer before I'm having deer nut sandwiches.
