I have absolutely no interest in any of those rounds there are far to many other rounds that can do the job better than those 3 that I wouldn't consider them and have never considered any of them.

Years ago my grandfather gave me a rifle in 243 it sat in the safe until I rechambered it to a 6mm-284...

I'd go with the 270 because it fits nicely between my 25-06 and 30-06. I shoudl have bought that used Remington Ti in 270 when I had the chance. But that was a few years ago when I was poor.

Still a Ti for $900 would have been a smart buy.

well i personaly would not chose any of the three i like my 30-06 but with that in mind i'd go with the 270 best all around not too much recoil and more that enough power for deer.

And the 25-06 has even less recoil,is flatter shooting than the 270win,and it has enough power for any deer.

and the 260 will nearly equal the 25-06 but in a shorter, lighter rifle

I've owned a couple of 270's and one 243 (amongst several other calibers, all of which I've handloaded for)

Currently, it's a 35 Whelen (Rem. 7600) , and Rem. 700's in 257 Roberts and 25-06.
The 35 wears a VXII 1-4 , the other two VXII 2-7's, all are in QR mounts.

243 fro me, I've owned one since the age of 16 and it's killed lots of deer without any problems. I also bought a 260 and it will kill lots of deer as well.

7mm mag for me, because - I own one
- Flat shooting
- Light bullets availble for deer
- it's almost as good as a 30-06

I'm not a big fan of any of them. As a pure deer rifle depending on typical terrain I would like something really flat like a 257 Roy or in more tradional type bush a 308 win.

Deer are pretty easy to kill, in reality any of them are fine.

I'd probably take the 7RM. All of them will work, though. The 243 with TSX bullets seems like a vry good performer.

Hands down the .270 Win. IMHO one of the better choices for ungulates. Anything else would be uncivilized.

I am sure this could start a fight, but here goes. The man asked, which of the above 3 cartridges would you choose and why. Not, do you think the one that you shoot is better and why. For those of you that use less popular calibers and they work, good for you. But why would you choose less avaliable calibers when any of the above can be found in your local Crappy Tire store all across the country in more than 1 load offering. Too many times have I been hunting with a friend that brought a less than common caliber of rifle, say 6.5x55, screwed up and forgot their reloads at home and had to borrow a rifle or shotgun unfamilar to them, to save their hunt because he counldn't find ammo for it. For that reason alone if you stick with any of the above calibers, which should take any decent deer sized ungulate cleanly.
That is enough reason for me to choose the .270. More that enough to easily take a deer out to 300yrd (about as far as i can accurately shoot) ammo can be found or borrowed just about anywhere and if for some strange reason my gun were to break or malfunction there would be a better chance of the gun shop having parts to have it repaired quickly.

I picked 270. For deer only, it seems like it will handle just about every shooting situation without a lot of recoil.

243 ! Its a great deer round .... accurate, and enough smack for a deer out to 300. If I'm hunting for deer only, I like carrying the 243, the rifle is light ... being a short action and a 22" barrel it shoulders quick and is steady for offhand shots ..... and factory 243 ammo is about $7 bucks a box cheaper than the 270, and as someone mentioned earlier, you can find it everywhere.
