Defeating gravity!

What the.......

Sounds like the trainer needs a course in kinematics (grade 10 physics), or else he has 'magic bullets'.

Gravity is affecting everything, all the time. The bullet in the rifle is still under the influence of gravity, as is the rifle.

Nothing can "defy" gravity.

You can shoot your bullet straight up in the air, but you are not 'defying' it, gravity is still exerting force upon the bullet...

BigRedd, your instructor IS WRONG... That bullet WILL start to fall to earth the very second it is no longer touching the barrel, the item that is "holding" it up...

Cheers
Jay

There is no lifting property to the bullet so it would just fall. I have been around too many people who "just know" that they are right, it happens and oh well that is life. As for defying gravity, wow, all I can say is wow.

Let me guess - he's an 'old' guy, right? And I don't mean age, but taught 'old school' ways, because people weren't very educated back then and this was the simplest way to get them to understand that things work, but not necessarily how.

"The lead has to be hot to get through a duck's feathers."

"If you smoke your pipe after shooting a deer, you'll kill it faster."

"The old pointy army bullets aren't good for hunting because they pass through the deer too fast."

And so on, and so forth. I know guys like that, too, and you can't argue with them.

So right now, there's some prof. on some nerd forum bragging about how he sucked his students into believing his new theory on anti-gravity.
