Figured I'd post for the hell of it.
Got a brand new Ruger 10/22 10rd mag.
Kept it in my ammo box for a couple months.
I took it to the range and went to load it today and the internal rotary just spins freely and there seems to be no spring to feed the rounds. So, of course they just drop in loose. Even the internal red plastic feed lip seems to be missing?
Anyone else gotten one like this?
Purchased at Sail in Ottawa, I don't have the package or receipt anymore but I'm hoping they will just give me an over the counter exchange if they find me in their system and IF they have another in stock.
:(

Its worth a try to exchange it for sure, Ive never heard of a bad mag out of the box, perhaps they forgot a part during assembly.

disassemble it and put it back together with the spring installed properly. I have had this happen with new mags too. The spring is captured in a hole in the cap nut, it could be broken but it's probably just not assembled properly.

Thanks!
I did exactly that and it works fine now. 9/32 Allen key and you can even increase the spring tension by spinning the opposite end when tightening the nut. Crisis averted.

If you're on file at Sail you shouldn't need the receipt. They have a record of your purchase in the computer.

Edit: guess I'm too slow! Glad you got it fixed.
