I bought 2, 100 cartridges boxes of Winchester white box 9mm FMJ yesterday and found 3 cartridges in one box and 2 in another with 2 dents, on opposite sides of the case that look like tool impressions, in the brass casing. I know they should "fire form" but the dents seem to be at least partially in the bullet area of the cartridge. I don't plan to use them and am wondering if anyone else has seen this. I always inspect all of my ammo before using and have not seen this before.

There have been some pretty nasty horror stories (with pictures) of Winchester white box pistol ammo over the past year or so. Their quality control seems to have gone down significantly.

I am not familiar with Winchester ammo. But when i was with another manufacturer we had a hierarchy of ammo. Stuff that failed the test for one line got down graded to another.

For example, we had a line making 22 match rifle ammo. Stuff that did not quite group well enough got sold as "Pistol Match". If it was a real bad lot, it got packaged as ordinary 22 standard velocity ammo. And if it really sucked, it went into el cheapo bulk packaging ammo.

The phrase "You get what you pay for" might be appropriate.

Your ammo has cosmetic flaws. It will shoot fine. It may have been pulled from the line of a more expensive line of ammo.
