I am curious if a rifled barrel exists for the 8-shot Winchester defender? I would like to use it for deer and would prefer a rifled barrel.

thanks

i dont believe so.....they made barrels out to 24'' for the 8 shot tube but they were always smooth bore. The best option if you want to use it as a deer gun would be to find a 22'' barrel with WinChoke® and purchase a rifled choke tube.

The next option would be to give winchester parts a call and see if they have a 8 shot magazine tube adapter for a 5 shot barrel. i know they made a 7 shot magazine tube adapter but im not to sure about the 8 shot. Its basically just an extended barrel nut that fits over the longer magazine tube and locks onto the shorter barrel. then you could just buy a 5 shot rifled barrel. heres the 7 shot adapter:

one question though......why do u want to use a defender for a deer gun:confused:, i mean i love my defender but i dont think it cuts the grade as a deer gun ;)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I already have a sight (tasco PDP-II) on the Defender so it possibly would cost less than purchasing a rifled barrel and scope for my 1100G3. That option is almost as much as a low-cost rifle/scope combo.

I'm looking for a cheap second deer gun to take a friend out hunting.

ya it would be cheaper to just buy a deer gun. I love winchester and swear by them. but i think they were on drugs when they were designing all the different 1200/1300s. all the different barrels, and magazine tubes just makes everything confusing......but like i said i love the look and feel of my defender.
