Define boring

This must be a record two threads about the same thing at the same time and it's not about bear defense.

To me boring is either overrated or overused
7mm rem mag and 270 overrated, had both won't use either again.
223,308 and 30-06 overused, own and use all three, but none make my heart throb.
 
I personally don't find any rifle or handgun cartridge "useless". There are plenty I have absolutely no desire to own such as the 8mm Mauser, 338 RUM, or .17 HMR but none that are useless.

The 30-06 for example is one cartridge I "abandoned" while younger in a search for something better. Today I have come to find new appreciation in the old military round and presently own more rifles in '06s than any other cartridge.

BTW, I anyone finds the old 30-06 "boring" just buy some rounds in nickle plated cases and pretend it is a ..308 "super-improved"!! ;)

The 30-06 worls just fine for all big game in North America, but that can be said about hundreds of other cartridges, too.

Seems too me the 8mm Mauser is An "old military round" too.

For a hunting rifle, I woudl too. For battle....Not too sure. SMLE's had a higher rate of fire, and a larger magazine. ..The Mauser had a reputation for reliabilty.....Having never been in a fire fight using a SMLE or a Mauser, I think we'd have to go over tot he milsurp forum and start a flame war to get it figred out.:evil:
