Definitely a buyers market for AR's right now

I've noticed recently that with the massive influx of chinese AR's available, the value of quality AR's has plumbeted...

There are quite a few good rifles sitting on the EE right now (mine included) for much less than what I feel they are worth. I know "worth" is a relative term... but if you're in the market for a new rifle, now is the time to buy!

This is in no way a complaint BTW. Competition and lower prices help us all! It just sucks for people that have paid top dollar for a rifle that is now worth $500 less than it would have been a year ago.

GO BUY ONE!!
 
I think it also has to do with the availability of cool non restricteds for fairly reasonable prices. I think the M14 may take over when those AIA 20 round mags come in and they are legal.
 
Yep, and if Colt Canada releases the Civvie C7 and C8 at a reasonable price (like Walmart USA prices hopefully), then that should help put more ARs into our greedy little hands :)
 
Sorry if I'm ignorant as a Black Rifle newbie, but why drop $1500+ on a used AR built to someone else's spec when an EBR style M305 is cheaper, a Norc "M4" is super cheaper and a Colt AR is STILL CHEAPER! Especially for a range queen.
 
Macs675 in answer to your question. Same reason guys buy ford or Chevy or Dodge. Someone who likes Daniel Defence rifles will pay more for a used DD before buyin a new Norc. Sometimes quality is an issue too. Maybe a guy got a Norc and the fit and finish wasn't to his liking so he swore off Norc's and is willing to pay more for a Colt or a Noveske?

It all boils down to personal preference.

You cant find a Colt Ar15 for less than $1500 in Canada.
And there are tons of better quality American Ar15 out there for only a few hundred dollars more than the Norc Ar15.
 
Sometimes the rifles being offered for sale are Barbie'd bitsers with all sorts of aftermarket bells, whistles and kewpie dolls.
May have been appealing to the guy who put it together, but not to other folks.

I posted a "wanted to buy" add for a CQ-A offering $450 and got a bite within 2 days. I seen a 14inch CQ go for $400 earlier this year. I think a lot of guns are down right now. Money must be tight.
 
Market saturation has lot to do with it. Its not just Norinco bringing the prices down. There are to many companies selling AR15's in Canada at rock bottom prices. So now the prices have dropped accordingly. Hell I paid a little under a G note for my Gen 1 Norinco back when that was a good deal. That was 4 years ago. Now I can get 6 different options to choose from at that price point now.

Well, you can find Colts for close to $1,500. Irunguns had some for less during a promo a little while ago, think it worked out to $1,350 - $1,400 CAD to your door.

You're right prices were in USD, but VERY close to $1500. But that's my point, I can go buy parts and build myself an AR that I like for under $1500.

Same as with cars IMO, revert to as close to stock and sell parts seperately. Makes buyers happy and keeps you happy. The OPs AR is a good example, nice and "stock".

Yes, $1400 USD.
So that translate to $1600 after credit card companies rape you on the conversion rate+shipping+tax.

For $1600, you can buy other same quality ar15 with quad rails and more accessories than the basic colt Ar15.
 
Have a look at NRM's forum, for the latest about the AIA compatible magazines.
Capped at 10 rounds.

Many AR buyers are looking for cheap as possible; that is why Norinco and NEA sell. They may not be serious shooters, and do not appreciate that a quality piece is worth more.

True , I think that is the biggest reason ; buyers are pushing towards non restricted to avoid all the red tape . Why buy a restricted that you can only use at the range , have to follow the range rules , pay membership dues , have to register the firearm , have to have an ATT to take it anywhere , etc.....when you can buy a simular non-restricted and avoid the hassles ; why would anyone buy a restricted long gun now when there are so many non- restricted options......
 
I saw several of that type at a recent three gun event. It was hard to identify the original rifle under all the 'Bling' and add-on accessories. Didn't seem to make some shoot any better, but they sure looked "tacticool".
Light, handy carbines were now heavy, awkward, over dressed drag queens.
