Definitely a buyers market for AR's right now

The beautiful thing about the AR, and the reason why it is so popular is because you can customize it to do whatever you want/need. That's also why there are such large price differences. If you compare a Colt/DD/RRA to a Norc/DA you will see why. The same goes if you compare the same Colt/DD/RRA to a Noveske/LMT. The quality of the craftmanship is what you pay for. If you want something to take to the range and show your friends, then cheap is your price. If you're more of a collector and appreciate the quality of a nice rifle, then you spend a little more. If you're a serious competitor and really know how to put a rifle through its paces, you justify spending top dollar. There is something for everyone!

Sometimes the rifles being offered for sale are Barbie'd bitsers with all sorts of aftermarket bells, whistles and kewpie dolls.
May have been appealing to the guy who put it together, but not to other folks.

If they would sell it bare, without all the added little bells and whistles and gave a price 20% less than the store price, maybe I'd buy one since I'm in the market for a new AR since my christensen arms CA15 is just a piece of excrement. But why spend the same amount as the store on a Daniel Defense in the ee? It's not like it's the lost ark of the covenant.
I mean that's why they are just sitting there.
When I put my stuff on the EE it's always 20% less than store sticker price, and it sells...

Exactly! My wife bought her AR 15 right after the Swiss Arms and CZ 58's were made 'prohib'. It was a sign of solidarity with those owners. I just bought one off GunNutz as well. Never wanted one before and I fell in love with the type after handling hers. She wouldn't let me shoot it, forcing me to buy my own!

If ALL gun owners had at least one AR 15 in the safe, it could make a difference. However, it might just result in another "grandfathering" of current owners. I'm really enjoying the ground swell of angry gun owners demanding their rights and being tired of being singled out in a discriminatory fashion like no other segment of society. This is the only way things are going to change.

1) Because they are more fun
2) Because I can
3) Because numbers matter in this fight

For me...it's much closer to go to the range than to drive to the bush. It's amazing the amount of fear that is out there about the gubbermint taking your guns away. I own both restricted and NR black rifles but my first love is always the AR...

been looking... but I dropped $20k on pension buyback last month and I'm going to be dropping just over $48k on a new truck for my wife this month.... bank account is getting low, but perhaps in the next month or 2....

I have decided that I need an AR10/AR25 in 7.62x51/308 :)

Tell that to T97, CZ858, Swiss Arms etc. owners, I'm sure they'll get a chuckle out of it.

Don't need to...I'm one of them. My SA CQB sits sadly in the safe...but it doesn't stop me from getting what I want (restricted or not). I'm also old enough to have 12x's sitting doing nothing...but hope hasn't faded from me yet.

Then why are you amazed by the fear of government confiscations/reclassification when its obviously a real possibility..

Indeed.

The seller thinks it's custom.

The buyer thinks it's been tapcof**ed by a hillbilly named bubba.

You cant find a Colt Ar15 for less than $1500 in Canada.
And there are tons of better quality American Ar15 out there for only a few hundred dollars more than the Norc Ar15.

Ok, so $1400 Cad shipped to your door.

Too bad I didn't jump on it a few months back when he a $200 discount (off the sale price) on all in-stock Colts.

I was going to just buy a stripped lower to get into the AR game and finish as I liked when time/money allowed. For a few hundred more than a good stripped lower I just bought a CQA. Still gonna buy a good lower and build one but this let's me play in the mean time. For under $500 everyone should have one.

Also don't forget in the U.S. the military is giving away M4's to the police that have been deemed surplus since the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq have come to an end. All the manufacturers ramped up production after the Obama ban scare. So there is probably a surplus down south.

I'll just stick to buying new.....

this situation is similar to when Savage came in a few years back with the Model 11 and 110 for aroung $500 then introduced the Stevens 200 for $319.... really helped bring down the price of used guns.

I think the prices for the Norcs have dropped. Standard handguard version can be had for as low as $529 brand new, quad-railed vesrions start at $699. Also, Lever Arms has the 20in barrel version now. More variety at a lower pricepoint.

With market prices dropping, one can only hope that Colt Canada’s coming into the game with their head on straight and competitive pricing. Hoping for Norc prices, not expecting it. They should at least be able to give irunguns a run for their money.

The main reason AR prices are so low in Canada right now is simply due to supply and demand. Last year after the sandy hook and the theatre shooting people got scared that the democrats were about to bring out a ban hammer large enough to make the last assault weapons ban look like a minor inconvenience to gun owners. Both of the shooters also used AR-15s and this rifle was front row and center in the media. People began panic buying, stock piling , hoarding AR's and ammo. All of the dealers sold out, distributors sold out and manufacturers couldn't keep up. Colt 6920's were retailing for $1800 USD! So of course while times are good dealers put in large orders for rifles and manufacturers ramped up production. Over a year later and the US fed Gov hasn't imposed any meaningful changes to firearms legislation (although some states have tightened their gun laws) and the panic is over. Not only are dealers selling less AR's than before the ban due to people stocking up during the panic but the market is saturated with the AR-15s that manufacturers built for the large dealer orders.

I agree the panic buying may have subsided and/or been satiated for now, but President Obama still has two years left in office..

So depending on the mid-term elections and other events there could still be changes to U.S. federal firearms regulations under this administration.

Who knows what will happen in Canada.

Get them while you can.

Yeah. Then when they get reclassified as "prohibs" or "grandfathered" we can scream the Canadian gun owner's war cry - "BOHICA!" It's the Canadian way to roll over.
