degreasing a stock

Srachel: get some diatomaceous earth from a swimming pool supply house. Mix it with acetone into a wet paste. On a long strip of aluminum foil lay a bed of the paste. Fill all the inlets in the stock with the paste. Set stock on foil and lay a coat of the paste over the top surface of the wood. All the wood must be coated with the paste. Fold the foil over and seal it tight. Let it set for several days then open the foil and let the whole mess dry thoroughly. Remove the crust and most of the oil will be in it. Wipe stock down with acetone and let dry. Best to do this outdoors.
