Delayed or lost shipping of firearms?!

I recently had a transaction that was similar except the value was just over half of yours. Very reputable seller and clearly a straight up guy from our conversations. So really had no doubt everything was it should be.

Canada Post had the package "locally" to me in ample time and then it took 3 days to get onto a truck and became "3 days" past due. As of course they adjust the delivery date.

In the end it showed "Out For Delivery" and made it to me.

So lesson I learned is Canada Post is not an exact science like UPS or Fedex is.

So take some piece of mind from that.

If you parcel is late - coming or going, you or shipper can get your money back
If you are the shipper and it is a day late - money back.

Make claims here:

If you are recipient, you have to lead shipper through this and hope he splits refund with you.

They do not make it easy but when they screw up they are accountable, unlike the rcmp...

It actually is quite a relief to hear people tell me I'm overreacting. It's just that CP's been pretty good so far, most items arrive early.

Thanks, I'll post some updates as soon as I hear from them.

I've had packages that showed "accepted at post office" and the next scan a week later was "delivered"

Their tracking sucks.

Just because CP says don't call us, does not mean you shouldn't. You've paid for a service and extra for the Express version. You pay for insurance?
Better to ship by courier. Costs more and not all of 'em are licenced to carry firearms, but they have a reputation to consider that CP's union doesn't care about. I suspect CP's service is going to get worse now that Harper is getting ready to close it.

Canada Post just delivered my restricted firearm to my neighbour... And I was home all afternoon.

I checked on the status online and it said "delivered" - I was about to freak and call the cops.. Thankfully I figured out who it went to.

I got a real problem going with CP, got the inquiry started today, it been 11 days out for delivery somewere in BC, they gonna report back at the latest the 19 of Dec... First time, i have a serious case, the package is a DA 12.5 inch 12 gauge if it's not found, i assured my customer that he wont lose a dime... JP.

My only problem is the carrier came once and nobody was home ,so now he/she assumes the same scenario ,so they don`t bother and go straight to the local PO and I need to go pick it up the next day.The tag in the mail box says nobody home ,when I know there is somebody there.

But otherwise I have found CP to be pretty good ,just don`t put too much stock in the online tracking ,that`s there is always a crapshoot (5 days in transit ,then BOOM....delivery attempted !)

I`m an older dude ,so compared to the old days, it really isn`t that bad.

Example; Sea Monkeys ,send one dollar in a SASE in US greenback, and in 8-9 weeks you got those wonderful little trained ,circus actors (AKA Brine Shrimp)

Sure ,it`s 2014 ,but one little computer glitch and all hell breaks lose, you know ,the ghost in the machine.

Instant gratification is the word of the day.

Canada Post delivered my TV to the wrong house once, and one of my neighbours signed for it, but I don't know which one! If I only knew which bastard on my street did it, I would let my dog leave him little presents every morning

Should turn up. If it is late you can claim for a refund for the shipping. It's the only way to get them to realize their mistakes. Pretty incompetent, and they do have more info on the phone, even though the website says they don't....

Now imagine if they did that with your gun... That's kinda how I felt yesterday.. What if my neighbour didn't bring it over?
