Any other Albertans experiencing any delays for an initial PAL/RPAL?

I followed Calalta's very helpful sticky regarding the PAL/RPAL process and managed to have everything completed and squared away with Mirimichi on a federal level within 25 days. It's a great sticky and a recommended read to all new folks.

I spoke to a very helpful RCMP officer today (in Mirimichi) who informed me that my licence application was sent to the provincial office (Alberta) on day 26 and he went further to say that the Alberta office is experiencing delays and backlogs.

Today is day 45 for me which is why I have started poking around ..... I haven't heard or received anything from the AB office, and I have already confirmed that everything is fine with the federal office (no errors or omissions) on day 25 of the process.

Just wondering - are any other Albertans experiencing the same delays and backlogs?

Have you called the AB CFO yet? I was almost 90 days into waiting before I did. Turned out there was a clerical error with my name on the application when it was inputted into the system. So they were trying to figure out how my dad (who passed away 17 years ago, and shares the same name as me) was applying for an RPAL.

Any event, one 2 minute phone call and a fax of some photo ID and my app was processed that day.

Moral of the story: If you wait for them to contact you, you could be waiting awhile.

mine took a while too and when I called the cfo he told me that one of my references was not answering the phone so your best bet is to call and clear it up that way,and when you want to buy a gun it does seam like it takes forever.

Thanks gents.

Anybody have a phone number for the AB CFO in Edmonton?
I have an address on Jasper Ave and also the fax number, but no phone number is listed on the RCMP website for the CFO.

Anybody have one?
Thanks.

from there follow the voice prompts and you'll get to the ab cfo's office eventually. not sure if there is a direct line.

Mine exceeded 45 days On Sept 27. I called the CFO. The female said.

"It's right here, I can approve this for you now and you should have it in 10-15 days."

Hopefully you got the same thing.

Do you have the number?
I tried 780-495-7799 and just got a recorded message and then dead air. :(

I would hate to think that this was just sitting in some guy's in-box. :(
