i got a SR22 a month ago, i bought the rifle to dump my 25 round mags down range fast. i didn't get it for accuracy, im not trying to get all my shots in the size of a dime, i have a 10/22 that does that. i have had 0 problems with it, the only problem im having is my butlercreek mags sometimes don't feed so i have to rack the gun again to chamber a round. the only mod i did was put a bigger bolt handle on it. oh yeah and im using the steel lips mag. the only ammo i have put through it is the blazer stuff, i think federal makes it

i have put close to about 3000 rounds through it now and i have not cleaned it yet and she is still going strong. i want to see how long i can go before it fails.
my setup is:
ruger sr22
aimpoint compML2 with ARMS mount
hawktech arms bolt handle
and i don't remember who makes the bi pod sorry

here is a video of me at the range shooting 150 rounds.

any questions feel free to ask:)

I have both the VTR and the SR and in my opinion the VTR is by far the better gun its a tack driver but it does not like cheap ammo (walmart bulk packs) the best ammo for me is winchester target standard velocity. SR is ok I guess but Ruger puts a stupid block inside the forgrip that rest on the barrel so anytime you put preasure on it, it changes your point of impact and the forgrip flex moves all over due to it being so long so dont know if it benifits to take it out. SR looks better but accuracy is more important. I was disapointed with Rugers SR-22 you put a bipod on it and point of impact is all over the place 5" goup at fifty yards looks good but dont waste your money! Have all but good things to say about Rugers 10/22's with the target barrel with laminated stalks very accurate.

Once I put the VQ extractor in my VTR it will eat anything Cheap bulk packs included.

I've had way less feeding issues with my 597 then any 10/22 I've owned. I think my 597 was easier to insert mags and operate the action too. Apparently the 597 is more accurate.

Just ordered mine yesterday. The Ruger looks better too. Its on back order so maybe end of june the guy said.:)

Wholesale just got a shipment of the SR-22 the Lethbridge location. I just picked mine last week. Only 100 rounds through it so far with no problems :) Heres a couple things i have planned...

http://www.tacticalinc.com/ti25-advanced-composite-steel-magazine-ruger-1022-p-532.html (best on the market, personal opinion)

Wholesale just got a shipment of SR22s in at the Calgary location...

They had 45 this morning when I called. I know of 2 others who bought, when i went in to buy mine they were selling 2 more.

They'll all probably be gone by the end of the weekend.

Rimfiresports - search for it. I haven't installed mine yet, as I'm nearing 800 rounds through my 597VTR without problems (or a cleaning!), but you will be able to install, if you can strip the gun to clean it.

Thanks! :)

Another question for VTR folks:

Did your VTR come with a collapsible stock? The dealer I ordered from had one rifle in the box with a fixed stock available and they told me that this is a first time they hear that a 597VTR rifle is coming with the collapsible stock. They put a "special order" in for me and told me that they are not sure if they can get them with a collapsible stock in the next shipment

Everybody is saying that they are hard to get, but dealers are already undercutting each other.

Why buy at wholesalesports anyway when a supporting dealer is selling them at $539 a pop?

Aside from the obvious benefit of being able to walk into a store and walk out with a new rifle in 20 minutes, I actually got to hold it and check it before I bought it.

Instead of posting this vague comment, why not post what dealer it is. Ive seen your post twice now in two separate threads and I am still without any useful information.

Thanks! :)

Mine didn't come with the collapsible stock. But they are selling them with it now  figures. You can even get a digital camo model now.

I posted it already, you bought already, so what's the point? Again, it's Jo Brook for all the others.

Hey sorry, who do you think pays for this site? Yes, all the supporting dealers do.

No big deal for me waiting a few days and support this community. It's more like Christmas with all the excitement.

Even if I pay a few bucks more, I rather buy from one of the guys who are helping us.

Two friends of mine bought SR 22's Went out and shot yesterday and my VTR killed the SR 22's in accuracy! Let them shoot my VTR and they where pissed to see how well the VTR preforms. I told them not to be discouraged, I have been reading alot on how to fix the problem with a none free floating barrel on the SR 22. If you plan to put a bipod on it you need to deal with the block in the front of foregrip so that it dosen't rest on the barrel any preasure you put on the rifle it move barrel in turn changing your point of Impact. If you want to keep sling stud you can cut or sand down block so it not touching barrel. I have a SR 22 as well and was not happy with it's accuracy so on mine I am going to take the block out and then put a stud 6" back from the sling stud I took out to redues the flex on the foregrip using a bipod.
