I have a 2 tone P226 pistol in 40 with no rail and stock suights and it's a CPO gun. Just wondering if I could get some information on how old it is or where I would go to find out more history on it, or it's approximate age? Thanks Shooters

if a stamped slide age should be readable in lettering on the underneath forward of the slide.

if so what letters do you see?...

history is hard as sig doesnt disclose, unless you pay from what i've heard.

Ok thankyou. I did some research, and found that as well about the lettering system for numbers for year of production. This sig doesn't have that, and in 2004 I believe they started putting rails on(which mine doesn't have), and in 1998, they started adding the coiled spring, for the firing mech, and coiled it (I don't know the name of this particular part, so someone interject please), in earlier models it was rubbing against the frame and would cause damage so in 1998 they changed it. So that's the best I could come up with, roughly in between 1998 and 2003 was this pistols production.
*If this helps, it was a CPO gun that came in a red box, that could tell me more about the age of it, if I knew when they started their CPO program, perhaps someone on here may have more insight than what I have already found??? Thanks Shooter Above for your input.

i don't think those CPO guns are THAT old... look carefully on the FRAME (not the slide) there should be the "Ax" marking on it.. probably by the serial number
*i think your slide is probably made in the US, but the frame should be german...
