They're essentially the same rifles. I haven't seen many fn fnars or browning bar mk3s around lately. I don't recall them being prohibited by the retards in ottawa yet.

What options are available here to make the stocks better?

I've actually been looking into this of late. There's an adapter from Sweden that allows you to use AR buffer/stocks and grips and raises the stock up to make it inline with the bore (like an AR) but I can't find them in stock: https://infitech.se/en/best-sellers/ar-stock-adapter-for-fnar-browning-bar-mk2-bar-match/

There's also an adapter that allows you to use Ace folders (which doesn't fix the drop in the comb) so you can use a skeletonized folder or a folding adapter that takes buffer tubes:https://doublestarusa.com/fnarrb-fnar-receiver-block-a630

Either of those (preferably the Infitech one so as to get the stock nice and inline) would be a nice upgrade to an FNAR. I'd also want to get the muzzle threaded for a brake/flash hider and had the idea of trying to modify an MDT NV bridge (for an LSS-XL) to fit the attachment points behind the pic rails at 3:00 and 9:00.

The proprietary mags are what they are. 20 rounders exist so you could get someone to import and pin them.
 
are these rifles still available for purchase? particularly the fnar-h ? I wanted an m305 which is currently a nogo due to the oic but I think the fnar-h is a good trade off. let me know please. cant wait to get my pal, gonna be a shopping spree lmao! wife wont be impressed though so probably gonna have to get her a diamond or something...
 
Well the BAR DBM was only 18” so I doubt any were brought up here. FNAR competition seems to be the only model still being sold/marketed which is a shame since the BAR is almost a pound and half lighter at 7.5lb.

Whoever imports Browning should be working with them on a Canada friendly version of the BAR. A niche market though.
 
That would be such a sweet rifle, but they should make it in every colour but black, because that's too scary. They should also minimize on the rails too many rails may get it banned.
 
There's plenty of BAR Mk3 models. I was interested in a left-handed brown composite .308win.
But they're not for the american market. You can get them in europe, asia, south america and Mexico.
To import one to Canada seemed too expensive and complicated, I gave up.
I don't know what's the logic at Browning HQ.
 
ive been looking into the bar mk3 last few days and I have a curious question. to get away from being classified as restricted due to the 18" barrel length, could you get the stalker version with the 22" barrel and convert it to take a drop box magazine? anyone ever attempt this?
 
How is the barrel installed on these? Is there an intermediate barrel extension with locking lugs for the bolt, or is the barrel manufactured with the locking lugs built in?

I recall an article years ago when USSOCOM built some 300 WM semis on Browning Bars for SF, they had to have a barrel extension made to be able to thread on aftermarket barrels. The guns were short lived but this was the early 90’s if I recall.
