Thanks Guys for the feedback, positive and negative. I plan on blowing off 140 rds of the MFS 55gr FMJ this weekend followed by 20rds of MFS 62gr SP. I noticed tonight at the Wholesale Sports in South Common Edmonton they had MFS 7.62x54R oddly enough (and yes more MFS 223 55gr). I don't have a rifle in that calibre(7.62x54r), but I wouldn't mind hearing about it as well. Cheers and happy shooting. Im eyeballing 1000rds of MFS .223 55grn ammo for $370 and also American Eagle 223 55gr FMJ, 1000 rounds for $440.

The AE stuff is brass but ive heard its crap for reloading, which is why i want the brass.

Guess im off to search AE .223 ammo!

Depends on how you load it. If you are loading it hot to run in an AR then yeah, the life of it will be spotty, but if you keep the loads moderate you should get decent life (4 or more loads) out of it.

If it is Lake City, it is very good brass - some of the best out there.

That's my understanding too. Lacquer was on the grey steel case from Wolf, Brown bear, etc.

From the Frontier arms picture, the MFS .308 case looks like brass. Is that the look of zinc plated steel?

Another downside I read on steel case is that it's harder than brass, putting more stress on the extractor.
 
I finished off my last 140 rounds today of the 55gr FMJ MFS ammo, and no problems experienced. Usually 3 tight at 100yards 1.5inches and than it would toss the other 2 rounds outside at about 3inches in spread. Overall, not bad, reasonable. My PMC 55gr Bronze, totally out shoots it, clustering 5 rounds into 1.25 inch to 1.75 inches consistently. But hey, the MFS stuff works and it's affordable. Also at 50yards with the MFS ammo, I shot a 10 ten round group 3 to 4 rounds almost touching and than the other 5 to 6 rounds inside a 3inch or 4inch group. Double taps were a breeze as well with my RRA 10rd mags. Again, not bad stuff. It works, and that's the most important thing. All this was shot with my M4 with a 14.5inch barrel and ACOG TA01NSN 4 power fixed scope. Anymore reviews would be appreciated..... Thanks Shooters and Happy Shooting!
 
Went to the range with some 55 gr MFS today , shot a box out of my 700P and avg was around 1.5 " + - @ 100 went bang every time , no complaints

PS...It shoots tighter than the 55 gr AE "Tactical"

I shot 60rnds of MFS with my Classic green. 40x 55gr FMJ and 20x 62gr SP.

First time was -30C and the oil on the hammer spring and firing pin was too sticky. Light strike caused ignition failures on MFS and Federal primers. IVI ran 100%.

Degreased the hammer spring, went back at -22C. Federal ran 100%. MFS ignited 90%, 10% primers dented didn't ignite, #### the hammer again and fire on second strike. (At -30C some MFS required 3-4 strikes!)
At 200m the MFS was shooting 12" lower than Federal (cheap 55FMJ) and 14" lower than IVI.
MFS seemed less accurate too but can't really talk about grouping: wind, mitains, googles...

-30 and -22C is without wind chill. Ammo kept at ambiant temperature. I know cold decrease muzzle velocity. Can it decrease differently from one powder to another (MFS being more sensitive)?

When firing, the Swiss arm cycled everytime, no problem. My AR used to be more picky with weak Wolf ammo, we'll see when the club reopen for the summer.
