I read some place that the threads on the Norinco receiver were not the same as the G.I. barrel but can be adapted ???. Does any one sell Norinco receivers???

The threads are different on US vs Chinese barrels only on the gas lock and castle nut, the threads that thread into the receiver are the same.

Not aware of anywhere that sells striped norc receivers, the odd one pops up in the EE every once in a while. Or find a good deal on a used norc rifle and strip it down.

Just working on one now. Glad I bought a Fulton bolt off the EE. Puts my headspace right on the money with no lapping etc. Bolt was/is to long for some of my Norc/Norc builds though.

Same here. I had massive headspace issues with the Norc bolt that came with the rifle. I found a Fulton bolt that fit like a glove. Headspace was perfect and the slightest bit of lapping was required.

Right on ccain. One other caveat is that I was gonna use a Norc flash suppressor because thats all I had at the time. I took it off put on a US manufactured one and found out I was still a degree or so off of level/timing (receiver to barrel) fixed that up just a minute ago, now all is good. Time to put on a USGI rear sight and then stock it with a USGI fiberglass stock.

Sounds good. Would just need to time the barreled receiver & check head space with GO & NOGO gauges . I have a receiver wrench that I used on a Garand I assume they are the same.

the action wrench should have a cutout in it for the m305/m14 pin(the one that holds the oprod spring guide into the receiver)
a garand has no such pin.

Oh no Barney, why should you have all the fun? This stuff is therapy for me, I love this kinda problem solving. Now does any one know the castle nut set screw size on a usgi/springfield flash hider?

M14 G.I. barrel/Norc receiver ??

Castle nut set screw for American FS units at 6 x 40 tpi. I have spares. Send my your address up in Fort MakeMoney and I'll hook you up. Last time we met you bought me a steak dinner. It's the least I can do. :)

Ha ha ha ha

Cheers, Barney
