Seen two boxs of loaded CIL sell for $7 last week end. Would have bought it but another fellow had bought the rifle so let him take it.
That was one helluva deal even by standards from many years ago. The last full boxes of loaded CIL ammo I bought at a gunshow, back in the early 90's, was around the $40.00 a box mark. I have been lucky over the years to have built up a stash of brass/ammo for my 43's fairly inexpensively but looking at current prices for brass anyone wanting to do any amount of shooting with one of these rifles will find it expensive, but then again this isn't just exclusively a 43 Mauser problem. Many chamberings are becoming pretty expensive to feed on a regular basis.
I have had good luck recently reforming 300 Win Mag brass to use in my 43 Mauser by turning off the belt, opening up the case mouth and running them through my full length sizing die after trimming to length. A lack of rim can be a problem in some rifles but both of mine have enough extractor to just catch and remove the fired brass. Other than that I would just carry a wooden dowel with me.

The Shooters Den, Sudbury.

I bought two 20X boxes from Bullet Barn; when you need them you buy them. If your going to shoot a 43 Mauser, the cost is part of the fun! Once you have the brass they will last ....

Bullseye reloading supplies - Bruno Gross 780-835-4648 may be able to help you out with the 43M brass.

Another option would be to fabricate your own from 300win as I recall.

Good to know other places to get the 43 Mauser brass. Bullet Barn has the best price so far.

The stuff isn't cheap. I bought 50 from Rusty Wood in Feb. '15. Just under $250 taxed and shipped to Ontario. I checked the price for someone last winter, list was around $260 for the same 50 cases.

I've been loading them with 77gr, FFg and 360gr bullet in my K-71. I don't even need to size them, just clean and reprime after the first firing, anyway...

While it seems to be possible, others have done it. I tried resizing after turning down the belt, but the largest expander I had was .400", I couldn't make the jump from .400" to .451". I collapsed every case I tried even after plenty of lube, gentle short passes through the die and annealing. If I had another expander somewhere in between, I might have been able to make it work.

Did you try using a fireforming load with pistol powder topped with cream of wheat and no bullet? That would expand the case mouth.

No, I didn't. I don't load for pistol, so I had no suitable powder. I would also have had to be very careful when sizing because there is very little rim to pull the case out of the dies, not to mention extraction after being fired.

If you're using a 300 Win mag shell holder, it should grab it well enough? For extraction you'd only need a cleaning rod, or drop a steel bearing or 30-35 cal bullet down the muzzle.
