Maybe I’m being harsh but shouldn’t you know the pf before you go to the match? Shot the NE Icore regionals last weekend and someone in our squad had factory ammo that didn’t make pf. +360 seconds to his score.

I have 1500 rounds in my safe that are 118-119 after I assumed the magnum primers gave more bang than They actually did...dumb -yes.

929’s from my research (on Eno’s) are NOT true 9mm barrels, S&W cheaped out and used 358 barrels (.356-.357) I assume XM are 356, I use Bayou 160gr 358 sized Bullets. Works like a charm. I even sort by headstamp. FC, Blazer and WIN fit great in the moonclips and WIN need to be loaded separately with an extra 1/8 turn down on the seating die.

Last boxes of XMetal I bought were terrible. There was variation in:

-COL
-Bullet diameter
-Powder charge

It grouped terrible at any distance compared to other ammo used of that day: S&B, AE and even remanned Centaure.

Several people have noticed the same results. I dont shoot IPSC, have no clue what "power factor" is, but results on paper are very clear and are similar to steel cased wolf ammo in results and dirtyness. For the price, there is better options.

Remanufactured ammo will always have more problem than brand new ammunition. That's a fact. A friend had an overcharge with Wolf ammunition. Another friend had failure to go into battery with Firearm Outlet branded ammo (Centaure) most of his round didn't pass the chamber check, same with Pheonix ammunition, we had a lot of squibs with X Metal ammunition. These are not stories, I was there when it happened. I don't want to throw anyone under the bus but expect to have potential problem when you cheap out on ammo.

You can buy 1000 rounds of brand new OEM ammo for $250, think about it.

That's quite the difference in velocity between the two guns!

By any chance, do you remember what your velocity spread was for a single gun? Just curious, because I was wondering if, by coincidence, you happened to have some low charges in the batch of ammo that happened to be in the mag for the 133pf gun for testing.

Dont remember the actual velocities but my ammo has always been very consistent, a couple low charges would have stood out and I would have made note of it, that being said the 4.1gr load I ran in the same gun for almost 3 years and always had PF's in the mid 130's whether at the range myself or at a match, the 3.4gr load in my stock 2 was 135 and 137 the 2 times I chrono'd a couple weeks ago myself and was 136 at the match last weekend.

Ran X Metal 147 grain 9mm ammunition at a level 3 match this weekend. Did not make minor so I ended up shooting for no score. Was running a stock 929. Suggest running it over a chrony before relying on it for a major match.

Tested and shot some Xmetal 124 and 147 gr ammo couple years back before I started reloading. Don’t have my log book handy but pretty sure both chrone’ed btwn 132 and about 134 PF out of my Shadow 2. Now I didn’t pull and weigh the bullets, just assumed they would be more or less their stated weights and even if they were a bit light seemed like I had lots of room to play with.

To respond another poster that didn’t like how they grouped, I found mine grouped well in bench test shooting out to 25 metres.

This ammo is suppose to be used by several very good Quebec sponsored IPSC shooters, so surprised to hear folks experiencing probs with it...which again...was not my experience.

Those very good Quebec sponsored shooter shoot pistols, not revolvers. Also, pretty sure they shoot the X-Metal projectile with their own load but I could be wrong. Still, remanufactured or brand new ammo, you should always chrono your load, specially for a level III match 800km+ away from home. Yesturday I wondered why the 2nd revolver shooter didn't have a score.

Having been at the Match were the ammo did not make minor I must point out that blaming Xmetal for not making power factor is not at all fair . I guarantee the 929 in question has a 358 barrel the Ammo was shot out of a autoloader and made 132 and out of another revolver and made 125 .
Blaming one of the match sponsors who always step up to support our sport because the competitor failed to check the ammo before the match is totally unfair.

I was a little nervous when it was my turn to chrono at Summer Slam yesterday because I heard someone didn't make power factor. I actually made a power factor of 137 with XMetal 9mm 124gr ammunition at the level 3 match. I shoot a Shadow 2. I bought a couple thousand of these bullets last month and they have pretty good except for being a little smokey. I got a good deal on them and I didn't have my Dillon setup yet and I needed a couple a thousand to get me through July and August.

the only time it does not need to be chronied is if it is MATCH ammo...provided AT the match. I would test the ammo first in the gun I planned to use if it was NOT match ammo...
ALWAYS test your ammo before a big match. Weigh a couple bullets too, and take the lowest weight to get your power factor.

Why not tell the whole story Jason? I took a sample of your ammo and shot it through the match gun and the PF went from 122 in your gun to 132 in the match gun. Oh and lets not forget that your ammo made 125 power factor in Roger's 929 revolver. If you are going to come on here and name names, why not tell the WHOLE story.

The bottom line is that YOU did not check the ammo in YOUR gun prior to the match. Had you done so, you could have called X-Reload to see what they could do.

At least you didn't travel from Ontario, incurred hotel charges etc.

Come on Trevor! These days, everyone’s problems are always someone else’s fault!

That pretty much sounds like the whole story. It doesn’t really matter what the match gun and Roger’s gun did - Xmetal did not make minor in HIS 929, and he recommends that people chrono it before relying on it. 125PF in Roger’s would tell me that it could be a pretty light load, I wouldn’t bank on just squeaking over the line @ 125PF for a major match. Would you? Or would you take his advice and check beforehand? It seems like sound advice, and a lesson he learned the hard way. Next.

This is exactly the reason I did NOT shoot revolver at the 2018 IPSC Nationals. I had just received my Bullet Shop ammunition and did not have the time to chronograph, function check, accuracy check the ammunition. Was I worried that the ammunition might not make power factor....not really....BUT be damned sure, I am not going to a Level 3 Match without knowing for sure. A valuable lesson learned for the OP.

Lessons learned
This sounds similar to the 1993 movie M.Butterfly.
That is always...always make sure your girlfriend does not have a ##### before considering her as wife material.
Very tragic movie BTW.
