Yes its still available most of the major players offer at least one load for it, I haven't seen Winchester AA or any other target loads for it since I stumbled across a case of it in a basement years ago. However field loads, slugs and steel shot is available and even buckshot if you search hard enough.
Anyone who carries federals lineup should be able to source it for you.

Federal game load 2 1/2 dram 1 ounce #8 or 7 1/2 at 1165 fps or so. A good target load, expensive, but good.
Harder to find than # 6 shot in that load.

Ive never found any new manufactured 16ga other than federal #6 shells. Otherwise look for old stuff. It still goes boom.

Canadian Tire only sells #6's in 16 gauge. I usually order online from Prophet River. They are one of the site sponsors, there's a link at the top of the page. They have a good selection. I have also ordered some non toxic bismuth in 16 gauge from Al Flaherty's.

I source most of our ammunition from North Sylva so if you have a local dealer (including all Crappy Tire stores that sell ammo), that buys from them you can get some 16 gauge.

Just a quick check shows that they have 2 3/4" #4, 6 and 7 1/2 lead, #2 steel, a few options for slugs, #6 Bismuth and #1 Buck currently in stock (mixed suppliers - Federal, Winchester, some Remington). We keep a "bit" on 16 gauge in the showcase but it's all about "what sells" when it comes to what we carry. But as others have stated, mostly you just have to ask.

North Bay, you have a lot of options if you have a car.

Sudbury has a few places that you can get 16ga ammo and a few different options too.

Call Shooter Den, the guy there is awesome.

16ga ammo that is recent manufacture that I have bought recently.

#1 Buck
Slugs
#4 1oz, 1 1/8oz, 1 1/4oz Federal
#6 1oz, 1 1/8oz, 1 1/4oz Federal
#2 Remington Nitro Steel

You can also get Bismuth from Kent now, safe for old guns.
