Horrible! Looks like someone was trying to remove the chamber insert. Mine is smoothly finished and fits the cartridge nicely.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help but those who know these conversions better, should be along soon.
I wonder if the guy who was trying to remove the insert, succeeded in backing it out a quarter of an inch and then
broke off the part that was protruding from the chamber?

Has that 30-30 case been resized yet? just wondering if that maybe part of the problem. Ask around if a local gunsmith have a 30-30 chamber reamer to clean it up. if it's the welding for the rim, that's another story.

Had one very similar.Rear of the chamber was rough. Had the chamber reamed and it functione flawlessly after that.
