The Spire Points are Hornady bullets. A person would be crazy to purchase Weatherby cases, when the loaded ammunition is only $10 more.

Actually, if you're going to buy loaded cases for ten dollars more than empty ones only to pull the bullets and reload them, then I think you're the crazy one.

I bought a box of Weatherby ammo so that I could fire some of them through my .300 and compare factory loads to handloads, but that's the only reason why I'd do it again.

I bought Hornady brass first because it was cheaper. I think it's also a little softer and have since purchased Weatherby brass. I found that the Hornady brass has a lower case capacity and got similar velocity/pressure readings as the Wby brass did with 2 grains less powder.

These days when I want .300 Weatherby brass I just shoot up a few boxes of the cheaper Weatherby Spire Point instead. Weather its shooting coyotes, problem beavers, baited or snared bears, close range whitetail or just plain plinking theres lots of uses for factory ammo. It doesn't hurt that I bought lots of it for 44 bucks.

I wouldn't pull the bullets, I would fire them for practise rounds, and then load the cases.

I’ve now found loaded weatherby ammo for $4 less than the empty brass..... very odd pricing.

That makes it a no brainer.

All I know is that I tried to reload for my .300....I wasn’t getting anything good ...I tried a whack of combos!!......I gave up and stuck with factory ammo ...
Weird eh!....you tell me

I buy it it loaded and use it for target etc , then I have the brass for reloading

Me too, I bought some Hornady to go with the 59 cases of Nosler I had. The Nosler was way better brass. Nwhwn the primer pockets started to loosen on the Hornady brass after a handful of firings in tossed it and bought a couple boxes of spire point, shot them and reload them now.

If I were to theorize; Weatherby's factory ammo is loaded hot. Their calibers also tend to like some jump. Seeing as the same factory making the rifles (in most cases) is also the one blueprinting the ammo, so not only are their depths going to be pretty spot on, but you're going to have a tough time running down their speeds too.
