Most on CGN know I had a devil of a time getting my custom Colt 9mm 1911 to run but now it is a joy to shoot. I would see if I could shoot a 40 S&W 1911 and if it worked buy it. Regards, Richard

.40 S&W is a great cartridge. The 1911 is a great pistol. The 1911 in .40 has a well-deserved reputation for being extremely persnickety.
Gunnar has a good reputation as a 1911 pistolsmith. Buy a 1911 in .40, but buy it from Gunnar. Ask him to test fire it - and to make sure that it feeds reliably - before he ships it to you.
