Why does that matter for service rifles? Without notable exceptions they are used to send high volume of rounds down range and in cases of military applications be accurate enough to down people. This is not the right thread for that kind of competition. Not saying there arent sub moa service rifles, but that's not really the point of a semi auto that can chuck out 30 rounds of fun in short order in free guise.

Not to mention I have a bolt action 22 and 223, how do you know I wont just take a picture of my ar and make the groups at 25 with my bolt and claim its a 100 yard shot?

Thanks TDC you can now go back to school and impress your grade 5 teacher, because I don't care. IF you guys are here to correct stupid spelling mistakes, or be negative and think it is a waste of your time, please do not post. There are plenty of people on this forum that shoot for accuracy and build guns just for that. And to answer your question, there is no way to tell if you shot it at 1 yard or 100 yards, but we are going on the honor system. If you feel like lying about your shot I guess you could but that would be a lame thing to do. Thanks

I have a hard time taking people seriously who struggle with simple English grammar. That aside, you likely won't find many here who have the gear to print such tight groups, and here's why. This forum is predominantly SERVICE RIFLES, which means they aren't meant to be 1 MOA guns, they're 3 MOA guns at best. There is no prize for tight groups on some scumbag who deserves it. In addition to that, any service rifle that has been tuned or modified to perform at such a level is no longer reliable which makes it a drama queen. Keep in mind the US mil only requires its "sniper" rifles to shoot 1 MOA or better. That's eight inches(give or take) at 800 yards for their precision guns. Printing eight inch groups at 500 with a service rifle is more than acceptable performance and a fairly tall order. Just saying...

TDC

Thanks for your opinion. Now if we could keep this on topic that would be great. To the people that would like the challenge or would like to show what you and your rifle can do feel free to post them up!

I say to make this semi-auto appropriate, there should be a time limit. I think 20 shots in under 2 minutes would be a modest challenge . Maybe less?

I'm definitely down for trying this out

Yeah, that could work for sure. If others think there should be a time limit we could do that instead. I assumed it would be only Semi-autos but I edited it anyways and put that in the rules. Thanks

Edit the "Must haves in you're posts" to include caliber and round specifics. I'm more of a shoot what you buy for cheap kind of shooter with my semi's but I have quite a few friends that like to hand load to see what there rifles are capable of. "minute of clay" at a 100 is generally all I ask for with basic 1-4x or red dot optics. I do enjoy throwing on the bigger scopes from time to time and banging away at poker chips. Either way hope this thread keeps on target and we some some nice groups.

Haha I will be trying to see what I can do! I will be going to the range this week sometime so if the stars align I might have something to post! If others beat me to it, fair game.

If the wind f**ks off for more than 4 or 5 minutes I'll give it my best. I don't think a time limit is a good idea, it doesn't show anything about the rifles capabilities other than being a superbeast capable of maintaining stellar accuracy when hot which knocks a lot of guns out of an already slim running. Too critical IMO to give anyone a good chance. 1 moa out of a semi with 20 consecutive shots is already a tall order! Let the damn things cool! Looking forward to seeing how others do.

Yeah I think the time is just pushing it a little far, I think we will leave it as it is and see what people are capable of doing with their toys. Let the shooting commence.

Posts like this are why people keep saying you sound like TDC.
Nothing constructive just pick apart everything and ad useless comments for no other reason than building up a post count.
I know TDC has some very good info to share but it's too bad that of his 7500 posts he's only shared that info for maybe 500 of them. The good ones are very good it's just too bad he discredits himself by making us read so much garbage to find something useful.
If you don't like the thread just hit the back button and scroll till you find one you do like.

Lets try to stay on topic here.

OP you'll get used to this crap.

Great idea, but 1 MOA is a bit of a tall order for most battle rifles but since it isn't limited to 14.5" or less AR's it is definitely possible for some of the rigs out there.
If Conte still has the 20" upper I sold him and has done some handloads or found a nice cartridge it likes I think he has a good shot at this. That upper was close to MOA with 55gr AE.

Good luck to all who attempt this.
I already know my rifles won't do this with the ammo I have so until I start loading for them or try some better ammo I won't be posting pics of targets :(

A precision AR is no drama queen. I haven't had a single malfunction with mine and it will shoot ten shots into an inch at 100 yards.

He flew off the handle much to my amusement. I'll try to keep mein antics to a minimum, so long as there is no clear temptation. And in all honesty I dont really know anything.

I have a 20" kreiger barrel at the mechanic getting chambered...... It's supposed to be done this week.

When I get it back, I will be trying this, not because of this thread, but because of the one in precision rifles.......

For what I spent on this lower/upper build this rifle better perform!
