Like I said I had never received a restricted weapon before and was unsure of the process. You don't expect to have to get into a confrontation with the delivery guy. I think many people would have done the exact same thing. Unless one is normally ornary. The point was to find out if this has happened to others and to educate myself and others as to what to do in the future. I certainly felt like I HAD to show my PAL to get the package at the time. In that respect, "complaining is NOT pointless".
Did you date the girl ? You might have ended up showing her your gun collection, and let her play with ;-)I bought a shotgun online and it was delivered by Canada Post. The girl who delivered it was curious enough to ask, cuz she said she and her co-workers where guessing at what it was.. I didn't sense any negativity from her so I had no problem telling her. I asked if she had a problem with it, she said not at all, and off she went. No biggie.
To everyone who has left a note here, the OP only told you what he did and asked what he should do, He said he has never received a gun before so all he wanted to know is was his experience normal. Why are some of you guys beating him up about it?
He made a mistake because he didn't know for sure what he should be doing. To all you guys who are saying he is an idiot, have you ever done something wrong or that was down right stupid? I am betting you have because I know I have.
It is real easy to tell him what he should have done after hed did it. Hind sight is 20 20 vision you know. As to the poster that asked if he voted lieral, well first of all it is none of your buisness what he voted. From your manner I guess it could be conceived you voted NDP.
To all the people who want to be rude to this guy, lay off. Answer his question and quit talking as if you are a real big tuff guy. Most tuff guys don't say anything they just kick the crap out of you when you get out of line.

Well stated.

You can complain all you want, it will not go anywhere since it was you who choose to answer the question....
If that happened to me the delivery guy would end up with a limp from having one of my wife's Chihuahuas' stuffed up his butt
Has anyone had this happen to them? It seemed very strange to me as I have NEVER had this happen before.
When the delivery driver came today he asked me what I was having delivered. Without thinking twice I told him it was a gun. So instead of asking for usual id he asked to see my FAC. Obviously meaning my PAL. Again just figuring I had to show id anyways I didn't question it. It wasn't until later I thought, what the hell was I thinking?
For starters it's none of his damn business what I am being delivered. And secondly what authority or qualification does he have to request my PAL? He obviously did not know what he was looking at as he did not look on the back to see that it is an RPAL not just a PAL. He didn't even know what he was delivering until I told him. He said those are different weigh bills and the only things they cover are guns, ammo, or marijuana. When I called his company (Loomis or part of DHL) they said he should not be asking those questions nor is that info required. They said a supervisor would check into it.
I have had guns left at my front door without a signature before but not this request. Maybe he thought he was the superhero of delivery guys. What if I didn't have it on me? Was he going to refuse to give me the package? When I called the store that I bought the gun from the salesman said I should have told him to pound salt. This is the first time I had a handgun delivered so I was unsure of the process. If it was marijuana was he going to ask for my medical license for it?
Yah I think this is much to do about nothing. I mean a) you should not have said gun b) maybe he just asked becuase he was curious as to wait a license looked like. I have people ask me all the time. C) life's short. People don't rob people who own guns. Especially a 9-5er in my opinion
Yeah, that's not the case. I don't know if they even ship firearms. Most stores I have dealt with use many other couriers but not Canada Post.
