Hello all!

After some searching around I cannot find a good answer or any real answer at all on this. my question is, Is it legal to have a properly torch cut ( 3 times with space in between each cut in accordance with BAFT and ATF rules) back part or heel of an original m14 receiver shipped into Canada? it basically has the same value as scrap metal, I cannot find any laws on this as it is not a functioning part nor can it be made into one, its more or less a display piece. any info would be great!

Thanks

CeeJay

Long answer, unless it is actually in three pieces, under Canadian law it is technically still a firearm on import and treated like one until the RCMP confirms that it has been deacted. As such, you will need the appropriate classification on your PAL for the firearm as if it were still functional. Poke around, it is in the legislation and any number of threads on here.

Short answer, not legal.

thanks for the response, it is just 1 of 3 pieces tho just basically the heel part of it. the fellow does not even have the other parts, would it still be illegal to just get the heel?

Pics might be useful to determine exactly how much of the reciever is there and to what extent it has been demilled. The Canadian specs for demilled/deacted firearms are different from the US BATFE specs, so the RCMP would of course have the final word. I guess the other question that would get asked is "why?"

Why not call CFC and ask???
You'd probably get a better answer than the internet can provide.
BATF/ATF rules/regulations mean nothing up here, as it pertains to your question.

Were the other two pieces split up and taken to the furthest corners of middle earth? If three pieces is still considered a firearm that's incredible.

Well I called the Canadian firearms program and I got transfered around a few times then they asked me to email a pic, so I did and I have not heard anything back from them, as to why, well really its more or less a paper weight or display piece.
