I got some 6mm BR handload from a friend. after fire, all the case have a dent on the mouth! mouth is not round anymore.

I measured the length of the cases to be 1.543 neck= 2.71

they were fired in Blaser LRS2 rifle. 6mm BR norma barrel.

they group very good tho. 1/4 MOA.

Question:

can I still use the case to reload? what caused this? how to fix it?

thanks!

Don't sweat it. Brass is very maliable, and this could of been caused by a zillion things.

The case will true up once you resize and trim.

Looking at the three different cases there, I would say that some have never been trimmed to length. I trim all my cases 10 thous under max before loading. As for what it making the case mouth out of round.....I would agree and say it is the ejection stage, and the case dropping onto a hard surface. Don't worry about it, most brass will end this way after firing, and you die when resizing will round it out again no problems.

.... If you're getting good groupings, and the rounds feed OK, then I wouldn't be too concerned about trimming to case length ( nice to do for consistency ) For your own peace of mind, try very slowly ejecting the "spent" round into your hand. My guess is that under normal ejection the cases are slightly dented by the process. It's fairly normal, and in the primer extraction/re-sizing stage of reloading, the case mouth will be returned to "round". ...... David K. ......

As said above it's caused by the ejection button pushing really hard on the one side of the case head and the neck banging on the inside of the action or even the chamber when you pull it out. Don't worry too much if you are using a sizer die with an expander button but if you use anything else like bushing dies you'll want to lighten the spring a bit.
