While I am no expert as I have only loaded about 20,000- 25,000 rounds using only Federal primer. I have had only 1 go off years ago, while trying to seat it into IVI brass using a Dillon 550. I now use a Lee Auto prime with Federal match primers on a single stage press and still have both eyes, all my digits and both testicles. Sure I still get the odd one that will flip sideways and crush into the primer pocket, or flip upside down and get seated, but only that one went off. I have deprimed upside down and crushed in sideways primers without soaking them in water or WD-40 for 24 hours. Never had another one go off and I am still alive to type this. And yes, if I get a small dent on the primer I use it anyway.
