Dented Brass

A friend of mine just gave me a bunch of .308 Winchester brass. It is once fired through his M14. Every case seems to have a small dent below the shoulder, probably caused on ejection. I would like to full length size these and reload, but I am curious - how big of a dent is too big?

I have used brass with some pretty good dents, but they went away...

Provided the shoulder has not collapsed you should be OK. Small dents from ejecting or from lube when resizing are pressed out on the next firing.

50,000 psi, makes a pretty good iron

Might try less lube, and clean out the R/S die. Most small dents simply get "ironed out" when fired, as posted above.

The brass was dented prior to the FL sizing die.
Thanks for the responses. I threw out a few from the last batch that went through my M305 because of the dents I found. I don't know if it's the same with all semi's but my M305 is hard on brass!
