Dented case while resizing. PICs now up!

I see one big dent and what looks like small wrinkles also on the shoulder from reforming the shoulder. I would do what Dogleg stated in his posting and back off the die. I would also compare a fired case side by side with a sized case and see how much the shoulder dimensions are changing. It may just be a excess buildup of lube in the dies shoulder area so make sure the vent hole is open

Clean the die and wipe the case shoulder and neck off after lubing before sizing. And remember sizing will force any excess lube on the case body upward and onto the shoulder area.

Personally, I use the Dillon spray lube. So easy and never had any dents. As mentioned, clean the dies.

Yep. Might not get the best accuracy but it'll work just fine.

YUP dent will shoot smooth again then on the third firing the case will split where the dent was. Most likely blame the poor brass manufacture at that time.

Some good info listed above. I have found that sometimes I have to use a different lubes. I have a 450 Rigby that I have to use bee's wax as spray or liquid lubes cause issues. I found that straight wall cases seem to size better with bee's wax. Everybody's situation will be different of course.

Usually it's too much lube.

Indeed! I personnally use Hornady spray lube to avoid that problem. You will likely have to take the die apart and clean it.

So, did like everyone said and I took the die apart and cleaned it. Seemed to solve the problem, but I only ran three more cases thru it and broke the de priming pin. So once I get another pin Ill be able to give it a real try.

Amazing that you can resize a case without any lube at all. Anytime I've tried to resize an case without adequate lube it has wound up stuck in the die.
