The ammo arrived before my SkS. It appeared something was poked through the wooden box and ammo can and dented some of the ammo. Are dented steel case ammo safe to fire?? There appears to be no cracks. Here is a pic:

By the way, is there any easy way to open up these types of ammo can?

I pulled on the handel all I can and ended up breaking it off. Took a hammer and flat head screw drive to break the seam line then use a plier to slowly pry it open. What a work out. One done and one more to go. I would like to know if there is an easier way to open it up?

I wouldn't consider firing any round with a dent like that.

As for the ammo can, my handles broke too, I just used a small pry bar and hammer to break the seems and then roll the lid.

General rules of thumb:
1) DO NOT SHOOT DAMAGED AMMO.
2.) DO NOT SHOOT DIRTY AMMO. (in this case, clean carefully with a dry cloth and make sure there is no debris that might jam up or damage your gun).
3.) DO NOT SHOOT DAMAGED AMMO.
4.) ... etc ...

If it was a minor dent, I would fire it. It would get "fire-formed" back to correct shape.
But yours is really dented, so dont bother. Its worth about 20 cents.

Finally got the 2nd can open. I guess the dented ammo will go to the dud round bin at the range.

unsafe do to change in pressure. It might rupture the case ie get stuck or blow up the firearm.
