I have recently acquired a antique shot gun that was registered. It is a single shot martini action ,and has a full wood stock and it was made to shoot 14 gauge shells.Overall condition is good. So what do I have to do to deregister it? Any advice?
You will have to establish that it was made prior to 1898. Write up a letter requesting deregistration, explaining the grounds for antique status, 14ga., reason to believe it is pre - 98, etc. Call the CFC and get the correct mailing address or fax number. It is possible that you could speak to a Tech. in Ottawa to establish antique status, the CFC can patch you through.
Is this one of the Greener Police Guns? According to the FRT, these are non-restricted. If this is the model, you are going to have to have proof of pre 98manufacture. I do not know when this model first went into production, but they were certainly in production during the 20th century. There was even plastic cased ammunition made for them.
