I just bought this High Standard, 3rd gen D101 double action derringer in .22 LR.

This thing would be perfect for potting grouse at 8 feet with .22 LR shotshells while deer hunting if not for our idiotic Canadian laws.

I'm trying to figure out how to render it compliant for transport and storage.

Storage at home in a safe is easy, it just needs to be unloaded but in cases where it needs to be rendered inoperable eg. transport, I don't think that a trigger lock would work.

Maybe a narrow cable lock through one of the barrels?

Any advice? It arrives next week and I am abroad so I can't check to see if my cable locks will fit down the .22 bore. I don't think that they will.

Can’t you put a regular trigger lock behind the trigger? There’s a guard to keep it from sliding off and it would still disable the trigger. Unless I’m missing something since I’ve never gotten to handle one.

I'm not sure if a regular Master trigger lock would work.

I have a Mag one and LR rifle one, If you can hit anything with birdshot, you are doing better than me, LOL. set up a big hunk of card board and try it
Thanks, I've got a bunch of them.

So how do you peoplekind think it will perform with CCI birdshot at 10 feet? I'm going to try it next week.

I think one of the 2.00 plastic trigger locks would work, When I did lock mine, I just use zip ties for yrs.
BTW Kidd auction has a chrome 22mag one on the blocks now, I had a shiny one yrs ago, To shinny, I kind of like the blue better.

I'm going to take the grips off it as they are not needed for function and will make it even thinner.

And bad a55 looking...…………….

Now I just need an old desk drawer...………………..

a lock around the frame will work.
The grips are simple , just a piece of plastic.
Now you have me thinking, I have lots of nice wood.
