Derya MK-12 range report

so these shoot cheap walmart bird shot good?

I've only run a few through but so far yes, they don't eject very far but mine has been eating the low brass cheap crap. I did completely strip the gun when new and lubed it properly and then ran some heavier buckshot and slugs through it to break it in before the light cheap shells.

Got mine today. Damn they slather these things in oil. Did some mods to the case to fit optics, more mags, etc. Feels good, impressed with the action so far. Will take it out tomorrow.

Are a lot of owners running low power variable scopes? I thought that given the relatively short range 0 - 50m, with slugs to 100m of the platform, CQB sight systems like RDS would be more suitable.

I doubt it. This is an RDS plus magnifier. I had the magnifier already so I put it on there for sighting it in mainly. I've actually switched to a Vortex Sparc AR now.

I put my Aimpoint PRO on mine, not ideal for skeet unless you're good with both eyes open but works well for everything else so far.

Somewhere, Wendy is looking at that picture, seeing that it's NR, and having an brain aneurysm.. Nice setup!

Any new news on these? I am about ready to buy one, looking for any other negatives. The following statements are true, correct? I'd like to setup the ergos to be the same as my AR:

- grip can be changed with standard AR grip (no beavertail) if you use the Derya screw.
- buffer tube is standard commercial spec thread, so you can change to a standard AR stock if you change the tube as well
- included irons are crappy but can be changed to standard AR irons
- can source a rifled choke for slugs

Limitations:
- no QD sling points
- can't change the end plate to something like an ASAP or RSA

So you'd use a sling like a VCAS, unless you change the stock and include a QD point on that end. Forend would need stay looped, there is no rail section close to the magwell to attach a sling adapter.

After some googling it sounds like that the issue I had is likely ammo related (possibly exacerbated by auto loading action). I was using Winchester AA target loads.

Still loving this gun!

Friends don't let friends shoot Winchester White Box. That crap will make anything jam.

Buffer tube is not compatible with AR threads, I tried to install a commercial AR stock on the factory tube and it would not slide over the tube and then tried to install the tube from my Magpul UBR and the tube would not thread in. Luckily I like the factory stock enough that I can live with it.

I changed my endplate but it required minor modifications with a Dremel to make it fit.

A quick word on the recoil of the MK-12, a couple days ago my wifes cousin came over so we went out to my range behind my shop so she could shoot some guns. She's a tiny little Chinese girl about 4"9" and less than 100 pounds and after playing with my 17HMR, 22WMR, and a 223 she wanted to try the MK-12, started out with some Federal #4 light target/field loads and she had no problems so i offered to let her try some Remington 2 3/4" 00 buckshot and she fired off two of those without any complaints about the recoil and she messaged me the next day to say she wasn't even bruised and that she had a great time.
If she can handle the recoil it must be a very soft shooting shotgun.
