Well. We all know the disaster that is my Typhoon. So, I said screw it and bought a Derya. Shouts to Bullseye Sports in London. I bought the gun on-line and had it in two days.
I have so far stripped the Derya to clean it before I go shooting. Here's my initial impression. Takedown is easier on the Derya. You don't need the weird barrel wrench. In fact, you don't need any tools at all for a field strip. If you want to do a more detailed clean, and remove the bolt assembly completely, then yes, you need the Allen wrench. On my Maxi-Bronze, you have to take out those three small Allen screws every time. I said before that is a weak point. On the Derya, you do not need to slide the bolt assembly back to separate the upper and lower. On the Typhoon you can damage the feed ramp.
The Derya has no recoil spring on the barrel- it is in the stock a la an AR15. The Typhoon has it over the barrel, which I feel is another weak point prone to failure.
The Typhoon is physically heavier, or at least it sure feels that way compared to the Derya. I don't know yet how the lighter Derya will handle recoil.
I also found that the Derya will cycle snap-caps in my Typhoon mags. We'll see how that goes in the field. I hope to shoot the Derya over the next couple of days and will update this thread at this time. Hell; the Derya only has to shoot one mag without issue and it will already outdo the Typhoon.
My fingers are crossed.
