Are the sights polymer or metal? Is the rear sight a peep sight?
Thanks. I like peeps. Mine should arrive this week, and hopefully I'll be shooting it on the weekend.Polymer flip up sights with a rear peep sight. They are on the cheaper side, though.
The gun also comes with an iron rear sight mounted on the rail and the original front sight, if you want to remove the front rail and configure the rifle like the straight stock version (aka Fudd version).
.
Thanks. Yeah, I saw that one too. I hope somebody does a review and cleaning one too.
Not my video, just sharing because this was the first I've seen of the DYPA-12 running. Maybe it's you - thanks!

Nice mods. Thanks for posting. So I got my hands on one of these yesterday. As stated, the pump handle could stand to have a little more purchase area on it for your mitten. So as usual , I can't leave well enough alone. The first thing I did was pull the gun apart and see what could be easily done to remedy this. The plastic grip portion is held on to the metal guide/pump arm assembly with two flat head bolts.( Any one wanting to 3d print something, this should be a feasible route)On the inside there is ample clearance between the guide rod attached to the reciever and the inside of the pump handle. I had a spare Picatinny rail kicking around and decided it was going to get mounted.

I made up a backer plate for inside the pump handle, to thread the bolts into to secure the rail. The pump it's self has a wall thicknesses on the bottom side of around .200" thick so I don't really have any concerns about the structural integrity of punching a couple holes & mounting there.

Next, as has been previously mentioned, theres an annoying clack when the pump is operated rearward and makes contact with the front of the reciever. I rummaged around for something to use as a cushion here. I found a flat plumbing washer ( for a shower head maybe) that had a slight larger i.d. than the o.d. of the pump guide rod. I slipped it over and reassembled the gun.

Since the washer is around an 1/8" thick, I had concerns about it not allowing the bolt to travel reward enough to pick up a round. I loaded up a mag and tested feeding with some dummy rounds I had. With the two reciever half's held together by hand, the rubber washer didn't impact feeding from a loaded mag. ( The dummy rounds I used were loaded with 124gr RN, with an overall length of 1.150")
After I confirmed function, I gave the gun a full cleaning and reassembled everything. I'm not sure what I want to run on the newly installed rail though I elected to try a magpul hand stop for the inaugural test firing this weekend.

Here's a couple more shots of the bolt and internal workings of the carbine. Over all, I'm quite happy with it so far. The machining is quite decent and I didn't have the partially stripped screws that had been previously mentioned. I had also read earlier that someone else has a bolt/ reciever with sharp edges that needed to be addressed. My bolt has been well deburred and all the edges were knocked off/radiused.

I'd recommend pulling through it. My barrel's bore was quite saturated with the corrosion inhibitor slime from the factoryMy DYPA-12 arrived today. Quality seems decent for the price. I'll be shooting it on the weekend. Contemplating running it without an initial clean just to see how one of these functions straight out of the box.
You're right. I'll at least push a few patches thru it.I'd recommend pulling through it. My barrel's bore was quite saturated with the corrosion inhibitor slime from the factory
Yeah, I still haven't decided. Fortunately, I've got lots of options in the parts boxes around here to find what works best for me.Nice work on the rail install Kyle!
I'd lean towards the shortest vertical grip I could find.... maybe a BCM?

Anybody know if you need to register for warranty, or just keep receipt? The manual says there's a 2 year warranty.
Do you know what the OD measurement of the pump guide rod is? I just watched the bats youtube review and it seems that working the pump and clacking against the upper might cause the handguard to crack. The rest of the review seemed pretty aligned with whats been said (ie. loose stock/grip after going through some rounds and to loctite), as well as finding the handguard in desperate need for a bottom rail/fatter handguard. So I got my hands on one of these yesterday. The rod measures .556" Ø. I too was concerned about the impact of the handguard against the reciever and any long term effects of it. That's why I tested it out with the 1/8” thk rubber washer installed. I might switch it out to a thinner one and do trials with it. I've got 300rds through mine so far. The only issue I've had is weaker ejection early on with a handful of empties( 3 or so). Live rounds get tossed 5 counties over. It could just be breaking in or it could be the washer. I'm going to head out tomorrow to do some more testing. I think I may have been being too gentle while racking the pump. That or the current washer is to thick and adding too much cushioning to the cycle. Or it might need the 1/8” of stroke that's been removed. I'll have to fart around with it and see what's going on.Do you know what the OD measurement of the pump guide rod is? Thanks for the reply. Any update would be greatly appreciated! Mine is coming in a few days so I'm trying to get things sorted out so I know what to prepare for.
