Just doing some reading this morning and I had a question...

I noticed that IPSC Production rules state a pistol must start with the hammer down in DA mode and that no SA pistols are allowed.

But! On the Production "allowed" list it states the Desert Eagle's are allowed?

Could someone please explain?

Thanks.

(Oh yeah, it's cause I am thinking of a DE in .357 and I am looking for more reasons to justify the purchase hehehe).

I think that's an error as the standard "Eagle" is single action.. the "Baby" or "compact" is double action..

you can check with Vince Pinto on the IPSC global Village

haha... same... I was coming here to post the reply I got in email :)

"Well spotted ......... my guess is that it's a historical cut 'n' paste error which nobody noticed, because nobody in their right mind would use a Desert Eagle in Production Division!!

The error will be corrected shortly - thanks for the heads up!

DVC,
Vince Pinto
IPSC Secretary"

There goes that idea :p - Well, maybe it'll be the CZ-Shadow after all :)

I've thought about using my .44 mag DE for a Level 1 match just for the fun of it. I may still do it one day! I would definitely have no trouble making major!

Cheers!

I used my 50 AE Desert Eagle for a couple of Level 2 matches and a USPSA match just for fun around 4 years ago. I was pretty inpresive on steel, but it was really loud if you stuck it into a barrel  On the USPSA match they had a plate rack, I hit the first two plates missed the next two, then hit the stand and they all fell down :D I kept complaining that I should only have to fire one shot per target since it made a 400 power factor. The only reason I stopped shooting it was the $2.00 per shot (with reloaded ammo) :(
